Mormon Years

There is this weird stigma in our culture.

For some reason young single adult years are like dog years. For every year you age past 18 you really become seven years less marry able. Which means that by the time a girl is 21 in human years- she is actually 39 in Mormon years.

If I hear one more 19 year old girl, or 23 year old guy whine about their ancient state I will barf up a lung. If we look at life from an eternal perspective- we will realize that the first quarter of our lives is only a just small twinkle in our actual existence.

I realize that a vast majority of this attitude is in jest but there is a certain amount of truth to the assertion that affects our culture-  that if we have not achieved certain things by a certain point we are worthless.

Marriage is an incredible step in life that should not be taken lightly and it is something that should be eagerly pursued- however, there is no shame in taking a little longer to find your eternal main squeeze.

See- This is my parents, squeezes for eternity

However, there is shame in finding yourself so distracted by your single status that your progression haults as you compromise.

Do not deny the fact that you have listened to a peer bemoan his or her single status. Although our desire  be loved and to procreate is divinely appointed, we have no right to waste the short amount of time we have on Earth to dwell on the things in our lives that we are less than thrilled about.

If you insist on throwing away the time you have now to complain about your current state of affairs or relationship status, you are wasting this Earthly experience.

Find joy in the journey, joy in where you are right now in life, even if where you are is alone on a Friday night, find a way to make a meaningful  use of your time on this planet.
